Good news for users who haven't yet upgraded to Windows 11. Windows 10 will finally receive an additional year of security updates. While the end of traditional support was initially set for October 2025, Microsoft is now extending its Extended Security Updates program until October 2027.
Initially, this program was intended to allow users to continue receiving security patches for one year after the official end of support, i.e., until October 2026. However, the program's dedicated page has been updated, now indicating an extension until 2027. Users already registered will automatically benefit from this, at no additional cost if they had already paid for access to the service.
However, don't expect any new features. Windows 10 will no longer
receive major updates, but will continue to be protected against significant
threats such as malware, ransomware, and other security vulnerabilities.
With rising hardware costs, Microsoft seems to be offering users a
little more time before they have to change their PC or operating system.
